Indications and Usage
OZEMPIC® is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Additionally, OZEMPIC® is indicated to reduce the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events, including cardiovascular death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, or non-fatal stroke, in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, OZEMPIC® is indicated to reduce the risk of sustained eGFR decline, end-stage kidney disease, and cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease.

Important Administration Instructions
Prior to administration, OZEMPIC® should be inspected visually to ensure it appears clear and colorless. Do not use OZEMPIC® if particulate matter or coloration is observed. OZEMPIC® should be administered once weekly on the same day each week, at any time of day, and may be taken with or without meals. The injection should be given subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm, with patients instructed to use a different injection site each week when injecting in the same body region.

When using OZEMPIC® in combination with insulin, patients should be instructed to administer these as separate injections and never mix the products. While it is acceptable to inject OZEMPIC® and insulin in the same body region, the injections should not be administered adjacent to each other. The day of weekly administration may be adjusted if necessary, provided that the interval between two doses remains at least 48 hours.

In the event of a missed dose, OZEMPIC® should be administered as soon as possible within 5 days after the missed dose. If more than 5 days have elapsed since the missed dose, patients should skip that dose and administer the next dose on their regularly scheduled day. In either case, patients may then resume their regular once-weekly dosing schedule.
