Description

Vardenafil 20 mg is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). It enhances erectile function by increasing blood flow to the penis through inhibition of PDE5, which results in the relaxation of smooth muscle and vasodilation in the corpus cavernosum. The tablet is administered orally, typically 1 hour before anticipated sexual activity, and is not intended for continuous daily use.

The use of Vardenafil is contraindicated in patients taking nitrates or nitric oxide donors due to the risk of severe hypotension. It should also be avoided in individuals with known hypersensitivity to the drug and those receiving concurrent nitrate therapy. Vardenafil is not recommended in patients with a prolonged QT interval or those taking medications known to affect QT prolongation.

Vardenafil should be used cautiously with alpha-blockers and strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, such as ketoconazole and ritonavir, due to potential pharmacokinetic interactions that may increase the risk of adverse effects. It may also pose risks of hypotension and cardiac arrhythmias in predisposed individuals.
