Description

Vardenafil 20 mg is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). It enhances blood flow to the penile tissue by inhibiting the PDE5 enzyme, which increases cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) levels. This leads to the relaxation of smooth muscles in the corpus cavernosum, promoting an erection in response to sexual stimulation.

Each tablet contains 20 mg of vardenafil as the active ingredient, along with excipients such as microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, and hypromellose. The onset of action occurs within 30 to 60 minutes, with a duration of approximately four to five hours. The recommended dosage is one tablet taken orally as needed, ideally on an empty stomach to enhance absorption.

Common side effects include headache, flushing, nasal congestion, dyspepsia, dizziness, and back pain. Serious but rare adverse effects include priapism, sudden vision loss, hearing impairment, and severe hypotension. The medication should not be used with nitrates, guanylate cyclase stimulators, or by patients with significant cardiovascular disease due to the risk of severe hypotension.
