Description

Vaqta is a 0.5 ml of single pediatric dose vaccine that is supplied in a prefilled syringe. It is a suspension for intramuscular injection only. It is indicated for the prevention of Hepatitis A caused by the Hepatitis A virus (HAV). The first dose is administered at the age of 12 months or older. This is followed by a 0.5 ml booster dose that is administered 6 to 18 months later. It is recommended to inject the vaccine into the deltoid muscle in children older than 2 years of age.

Whereas in children 12 to 23 months of age, the anterolateral area of the thigh is the preferred site for IM injection. Do Not mix Vaqta with any other vaccine in the same vial or syringe. The prefilled syringe should be used after shaking well. The product shall be inspected visually for any discoloration or particulate matter prior to administration. The needle is attached to the prefilled syringe by twisting in a clockwise direction. Discard the vial after use.
