Description

Tamiflu (Oseltamivir phosphate) is an antiviral medication used for the treatment and prevention of influenza (flu) in individuals aged two weeks and older. It is most effective when initiated within 48 hours of the onset of flu symptoms, reducing the duration and severity of illness. Tamiflu is particularly useful in individuals at high risk for complications from the flu, such as those with chronic health conditions, elderly individuals, or young children.

The active ingredient in Tamiflu, Oseltamivir, works by inhibiting the neuraminidase enzyme on the surface of the influenza virus. This enzyme is critical for the virus to replicate and spread from infected cells to healthy cells. By blocking this enzyme, Tamiflu helps to reduce the ability of the virus to propagate, leading to faster recovery from the flu and reduced transmission.
