Tadalafil 5 mg is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used primarily for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). By enhancing nitric oxide effects and increasing cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), it promotes smooth muscle relaxation and vasodilation in targeted vascular beds, improving blood flow to specific tissues.

The tablet is administered orally, with or without food, depending on patient preference. It is typically taken once daily at a fixed time to maintain steady plasma concentrations, particularly in the management of ED and BPH. The recommended dosage and duration depend on the indication and individual patient response.

Caution is required in patients with cardiovascular risk factors due to the potential for hypotension. Serious adverse effects may include priapism, visual disturbances, and hearing loss. Tadalafil should be avoided in severe hepatic impairment. Clinical use is not established for Raynaud's phenomenon or female sexual arousal disorder. The medication must be stored at controlled room temperature.
