Prevantics® swabs meet skin antisepsis guidelines from organizations such as CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology). Each packet comes with an easy opening at ‘Tear Here.’ Open the swab packet in the diagonal direction by grasping the packet with one hand. This opens the product to retrieving the swab easily. It is directed not to unfold the swab after opening the packet.

Prevantics® swabs are so designed to scrub the hub or to disinfect needleless access sites as well as in between each line access. The swabs are used to prepare the skin for injection. Apart from using it for pre-injection skin preparation, it is also used for strict surgery skin antisepsis.

The swabs help disinfect by scrubbing and drying the site. It is directed to apply the swab back and forth for 15 seconds in four strokes on the skin. The area should be allowed to dry for 30 seconds before administering the injection or carrying out a procedure. It is the best practice to dispose of the swab after a single use.

Prep swabs are Saturated with 3.15% CHX- Chlorhexidine Gluconate (w/v) and 70% Isopropyl Alcohol (v/v). Consist of 1mL CHX 3.15% anti-septic. Contains 1.0 mL swabs in 3.125 and 1.125-inch prep pad design. The product has premoistened, ready-to-use applicators that contain no glass and do not require activation before use.

One prep pad measures 3.125*1.125 square inch that helps cover 6.25 square inches of the treatment area. Prevantics® should not be used on lumbar puncture, or in contact with meninges, as a general cleanser, to open skin wounds, or under the occlusive patch. Allow the skin to dry before doing the procedure. There should be no pooling on the skin.

Prevantics® is for external use only. It should be avoided in electrocautery procedures as isopropyl alcohol in the swab is flammable. It must be used with care in premature infants and infants under 02 months of age as these products may cause irritation or chemical burns. It must also be avoided in patients with known allergies to any of the aforementioned ingredients in the product.
