Coated VICRYL™ Absorbable Suture, Violet Braided, Size 7-0, 18", with TG140-8 needle, is a synthetic sterile suture composed of polyglactin 910, a copolymer of glycolide and L-lactide. It is designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic procedures, where an absorbable material is appropriate.

The violet braided suture is coated to reduce tissue drag and improve handling. The coating ensures excellent knot security and smooth passage through delicate tissues. Its braided structure enhances pliability and allows for reliable performance during intricate closures. The small size and fine gauge of the suture make it suitable for precision suturing.

Typical clinical applications include ophthalmic surgery, mucosal closures, subcutaneous tissue approximation, and delicate soft tissue repairs. It is not suitable for cardiovascular or neurological procedures due to its absorbable nature and limited long-term tensile strength retention.
