Suture, Vicryl Braided Violet 12 TG140-8 is a sterile, synthetic absorbable surgical suture composed of Polyglactin 910. It is designed for use in general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic procedures. The violet coloration enhances visibility during placement while the braided structure provides flexibility and handling ease in delicate tissues.

This suture exhibits superior handling characteristics due to its braided construction and controlled coating. The coating improves passage through tissue and offers reliable knot security, particularly on the first throw. Its construction allows for precise placement and secure wound closure with minimal tissue drag or trauma.

The suture maintains approximately 50% of its original tensile strength for up to three weeks after implantation, which is optimal for healing tissues requiring temporary support. Following the initial strength retention period, the suture progressively loses strength and is fully absorbed via hydrolysis.
