Description
Coated VICRYL™ Suture is a synthetic, absorbable, braided suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with a polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate mixture to enhance handling, minimize tissue drag, and provide smooth knot security. The undyed form is intended for applications where low suture visibility is preferred, particularly in superficial or aesthetic procedures.
This suture is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic surgeries. It is not recommended for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues. The braided construction allows for excellent knot tie-down, with secure knots achievable even on the first throw, supporting reliable closure in various surgical sites.
Coated VICRYL™ is frequently used in procedures involving muscle and fascia approximation, subcutaneous tissue closure, reproductive tract surgery, ophthalmic interventions, and orthopedic soft tissue repair. Its performance characteristics make it a preferred option where moderate-term wound support and absorbability are required.
