Description
Ropivacaine HCl 5 mg/mL 30 mL is a local anesthetic used to provide pain relief during and after surgical procedures, as well as in regional anesthesia. It works by blocking the nerve signals in a specific area of the body, preventing the sensation of pain without affecting the patient's consciousness. Ropivacaine is commonly administered for procedures such as epidurals, nerve blocks, and regional anesthesia.
The solution is provided in a 30 mL vial, containing 5 mg of Ropivacaine per mL. The medication is available in multiple concentrations and volumes, allowing for flexibility in treatment depending on the patient’s needs and the type of procedure. The formulation is intended for parenteral use only.
Ropivacaine's pharmacological action involves inhibiting the sodium channels in nerve cells, thereby preventing nerve impulses from being transmitted to the brain. This results in a temporary numbing effect in the treated area. The onset and duration of action can vary, depending on the specific procedure and concentration used.
