Remicade (infliximab) 100 mg vial is a biologic medication used to treat several autoimmune conditions, including moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, ankylosing spondylitis, and psoriatic arthritis. It is a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor that works by binding to and neutralizing TNF-alpha, a cytokine involved in the inflammatory response of these conditions.
Remicade is administered via intravenous infusion, typically in a clinical setting. The dosage and frequency of administration depend on the specific condition being treated and the patient's response. Initial doses are followed by maintenance infusions, with adjustments made as necessary based on clinical assessment.
Common side effects of Remicade include upper respiratory infections, headache, and infusion-related reactions such as fever or chills. Serious side effects may include an increased risk of infections, liver problems, and the potential for malignancies. Patients receiving Remicade should be monitored for signs of infection and other adverse effects during treatment.
