Marcaine 0.75% 10mL is a local anesthetic solution containing bupivacaine hydrochloride, primarily used for epidural and retrobulbar anesthesia. This formulation is designed to provide a high potency and longer duration of action compared to other local anesthetics. By inhibiting sodium ion influx across the nerve cell membrane, bupivacaine stabilizes the membrane, preventing the transmission of nerve impulses.

The 0.75% concentration is specifically used for more intense anesthetic effects, particularly in procedures requiring prolonged pain relief. It is typically administered by injection or infiltration into specific regions such as the epidural space or the retrobulbar area.
