Description

Lidocaine 2% Injection, supplied in a 5 mL prefilled syringe (PFS) with a 20 G x 1-1/2 inch needle, is a local anesthetic and antiarrhythmic agent. This product is specifically intended for cardiac use, providing temporary relief from ventricular arrhythmias by stabilizing the cardiac cell membranes. The solution contains 2% lidocaine hydrochloride, providing 20 mg of lidocaine per milliliter.

As an antiarrhythmic, lidocaine works by inhibiting sodium ion influx through voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby reducing excitability and preventing the propagation of abnormal electrical impulses in the heart. It is most commonly used for the management of acute ventricular arrhythmias, including those following myocardial infarction or during cardiac surgery.

The prefilled syringe is designed for single-use and provides an accurate, ready-to-administer dosage. The 20 G x 1-1/2 inch needle ensures effective intravenous or intramuscular administration, depending on the clinical requirement.
