The dressing absorbs wound exudate and creates a moist environment which supports the bodys healing process and aids in the removal of nonviable tissue from the wound (autolytic debridement), without damaging new tissue. Cardinal Health^TM Hydrocolloid dressings consist of a wound contact layer of hydrocolloids. The top layer is a semi-permeable, polyurethane film backing, which allows for circulation of O2, CO2and water vapor, while excluding germs and water to protect the wound from external contamination.
