Description
Gamunex -C 10% 5Gm 1/Ea is an intravenous and subcutaneous immunoglobulin (IVIG/SCIG) used for the treatment of primary immunodeficiency (PI), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). It provides a concentrated source of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies derived from human plasma, aiding in immune function and reducing susceptibility to infections in patients with antibody deficiencies.
The mechanism of action involves passive immunity through the administration of IgG, which neutralizes pathogens, enhances opsonization, and regulates immune responses. In CIDP, Gamunex-C reduces nerve inflammation and prevents disease progression by interfering with pathogenic autoantibodies.
The product is available as a ready-to-use 10% IgG solution (5 g per 50 mL) and can be administered intravenously or subcutaneously, depending on the indication. Dosage and infusion rates are adjusted based on patient weight and clinical condition. Adverse effects include headache, fever, nausea, chills, infusion-site reactions.
