Description

Gammagard Liquid 20 g is an intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) used for the treatment of primary immunodeficiency (PI) and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP). It provides a concentrated source of immunoglobulin G (IgG) antibodies, which help enhance immune function in patients with antibody deficiencies. By supplying essential antibodies, it reduces the risk of recurrent infections in immunocompromised individuals and modulates immune response in autoimmune conditions.

The mechanism of action involves passive immunity through the administration of pooled human plasma-derived IgG. This supports immune defense by neutralizing pathogens and regulating immune activity. In CIDP, Gammagard Liquid helps reduce nerve inflammation and improve neurological function by modulating immune-mediated damage.

The product is supplied as a ready-to-use liquid with a concentration of 10% IgG (20 g in 200 mL). It is administered intravenously, with dosage based on patient weight and clinical condition. Infusion rates must be carefully controlled to minimize adverse effects such as headache, fever, nausea, and infusion-related reactions.
