Diprivan (Propofol) 1% Injectable Emulsion is a sterile, nonpyrogenic formulation designed for intravenous administration. It contains 10 mg/mL of propofol, an ultra-short-acting sedative-hypnotic agent used for the induction and maintenance of anesthesia or sedation. The formulation consists of an oil-in-water emulsion containing soybean oil, glycerol, and egg lecithin to facilitate drug solubility and delivery.

Diprivan acts by potentiating gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) activity at GABA-A receptors, leading to central nervous system depression. This results in rapid onset of sedation, unconsciousness, and reduced awareness of external stimuli.
