Each ml contains 20 mg methylprednisolone acetate, 29.5 mg of polyethylene glycol 3350, 1.97 mg of polysorbate 80, and 9.3 mg of benzyl alcohol as a preservative. DEPO-MEDROL 20 mg/ml belongs to the class of corticosteroids, which are used to reduce inflammation and pain in various conditions. The active ingredient, methylprednisolone, is a potent anti-inflammatory agent that works by inhibiting the production of inflammatory mediators. It is indicated for the treatment of various conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other inflammatory conditions.
The recommended dosage of DEPO-MEDROL depends on the condition being treated and the individual's response to the medication. It is typically administered once every 3-4 weeks, and the dosage may be adjusted based on the patient's response. Common side effects associated with the medication include pain, swelling, or redness at the injection site, increased appetite, and weight gain. These side effects are usually mild and temporary. Note that injection is NOT administered via intravenous route.
