Description
Cinvanti 130 mg/18 mL Vial is an intravenous antiemetic medication used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy. It contains the active ingredient aprepitant, a selective neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor antagonist. By inhibiting the binding of substance P to NK1 receptors in the brain, Cinvanti effectively reduces chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), which is a common side effect of cancer treatments.
Cinvanti is typically administered as a single-dose infusion before chemotherapy. The recommended dosage and duration of administration depend on the chemotherapy regimen and patient-specific factors. It is often used in combination with other antiemetic agents to achieve optimal control of nausea and vomiting.
The most common side effects of Cinvanti include fatigue, constipation, and elevated liver enzymes. Serious side effects, although rare, may include allergic reactions, liver toxicity, and severe gastrointestinal issues. Close monitoring is required during treatment, especially in patients with a history of liver disease or those undergoing complex chemotherapy regimens.
