Description

Celecoxib 200 mg capsules are a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor used for the management of pain and inflammation in conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. By selectively inhibiting COX-2, it reduces prostaglandin synthesis, leading to decreased pain and inflammation while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects associated with non-selective NSAIDs.

Each capsule contains 200 mg of celecoxib in a gelatin-based formulation designed for oral administration. The selective COX-2 inhibition helps preserve gastric mucosa, reducing the risk of ulcers and bleeding compared to traditional NSAIDs. The medication is rapidly absorbed, with peak plasma concentrations occurring within three hours of ingestion.

Common adverse effects include dyspepsia, headache, hypertension, and gastrointestinal discomfort. Serious risks include cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction and stroke, particularly with prolonged use or in patients with preexisting cardiovascular disease.
