Description
Atropine Sulfate Injection, 0.1 mg/mL, 10 x 10 mL Prefilled Syringe is an anticholinergic agent used in various medical applications, including bradycardia treatment, pre-anesthesia medication, organophosphate poisoning, and neuromuscular blockade reversal. It functions by inhibiting muscarinic receptors, thereby reducing vagal influence on the heart, increasing heart rate, and decreasing secretions in the respiratory tract.
The injection is supplied in prefilled syringes containing 0.1 mg/mL of atropine sulfate for intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), or subcutaneous (SC) administration. The dosage varies based on the clinical indication. In emergency cardiac conditions, atropine is administered intravenously at a dose of 0.5 mg every 3 to 5 minutes as needed, with a maximum total dose of 3 mg.
Common adverse effects include dry mouth, blurred vision, tachycardia, urinary retention, and constipation. Serious risks include ventricular arrhythmias, severe tachycardia, central nervous system (CNS) disturbances, and acute angle-closure glaucoma in predisposed patients.
