Aspirin EC 81 mg tablets are an over-the-counter medication primarily used as an analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory agent. This enteric-coated formulation is designed to minimize stomach irritation by allowing the tablet to dissolve in the small intestine rather than the stomach. It works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), which is involved in the production of prostaglandins.

Its primary indication is for the prevention of thrombotic cardiovascular events, particularly in patients with a history of myocardial infarction or stroke.
