Description

Tretinoin Cream 0.1% (20g) is a topical retinoid used for the treatment of acne vulgaris and certain dermatological conditions. It is a derivative of vitamin A that promotes cell turnover, preventing the formation of comedones and reducing existing acne lesions. It is also used for improving skin texture, reducing fine wrinkles, and treating hyperpigmentation disorders by increasing epidermal cell renewal.

The mechanism of action involves binding to retinoic acid receptors (RARs) in the skin, which modulates gene expression and accelerates keratinocyte proliferation. This process enhances epidermal exfoliation, unclogs pores, and promotes new skin cell formation. Tretinoin increases collagen synthesis, contributing to improved skin elasticity and reduced fine lines over time.

Common side effects include skin irritation, dryness, redness, peeling, and increased sensitivity to sunlight. Temporary worsening of acne may occur during initial use. Severe irritation, excessive peeling, or allergic reactions require medical attention. It should be used with caution in individuals with sensitive skin, eczema, or rosacea.
