Drug Category USES: This medication is used to treat acne and other skin conditions (such as rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis). It helps to relieve the symptoms of skin irritation caused by these conditions. This product contains a combination of two drugs, sulfacetamide and sulfur. Both sulfacetamide and sulfur stop the growth of bacteria on the skin surface. Sulfur also has a drying effect on the skin that helps the skin to shed old cells.

Precautions PRECAUTIONS: Before using sulfacetamide with sulfur, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to either of these drugs; or to sulfa medications; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, cracked skin or open wounds (especially on the face or hands). During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if the drugs in this product pass into breast milk when applied to the skin. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Side Effects SIDE EFFECTS: Mild redness and dry skin may occur. If either of these effects lasts or gets worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Stop using this medication and tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: skin irritation, scaling of the skin. You may be at increased risk for side effects if this medication is used on raw or broken skin. Consult your doctor for details. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing, signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn't go away, fever), unusual weakness, easy bleeding/bruising, yellowing eyes/skin.
