Description
Rituxan 100 mg/10 mL Vial is a monoclonal antibody used in the treatment of certain autoimmune diseases and cancers. It targets the CD20 antigen found on the surface of B-lymphocytes, leading to their depletion. Rituxan is primarily indicated for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, rheumatoid arthritis, granulomatosis with polyangiitis, and microscopic polyangiitis.
The formulation is supplied as a sterile, preservative-free solution in a single-use vial. It is administered as an intravenous infusion under medical supervision due to the risk of infusion-related reactions. Pre-medication with antipyretics and antihistamines is often required to minimize adverse effects. The infusion must be prepared and diluted in an appropriate IV solution before administration.
Common adverse reactions include infusion-related reactions, fever, chills, nausea, fatigue, and infections due to immunosuppression. Serious complications may involve severe infections, reactivation of hepatitis B virus, progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), and cardiac events.
