Description

Pregnyl 10,000 IU is a human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) injection used in reproductive medicine for stimulating ovulation in females and supporting testosterone production in males. It mimics the action of luteinizing hormone (LH), promoting the final maturation of ovarian follicles and triggering ovulation. In males, it stimulates Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone, aiding in the treatment of hypogonadism and certain fertility disorders.

Each vial contains 10,000 IU of highly purified human chorionic gonadotropin as the active ingredient, obtained from the urine of pregnant women. The formulation includes excipients such as sodium chloride and mannitol, with sterile water for injection provided as a diluent. The injection is administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously, depending on medical recommendations.

Common side effects include headache, fatigue, local injection site reactions, mood changes, and abdominal discomfort. In females, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) may occur, leading to bloating, weight gain, and fluid retention. In males, prolonged use may cause gynecomastia or increased estrogen levels.
