Description
Monoferric 1,000 mg/10 mL vial contains ferric derisomaltose, an intravenous iron formulation used for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia. Ferric derisomaltose is a stable, non-dextran iron complex that provides an efficient means of replenishing iron stores in patients who are unable to tolerate oral iron supplements or require rapid correction of iron deficiency.
This product is indicated for the treatment of iron deficiency anemia in adult patients who have not responded adequately to oral iron therapy or have a contraindication to oral iron. It is administered intravenously, allowing for rapid iron repletion and avoiding the gastrointestinal side effects commonly associated with oral iron formulations.
Monoferric is typically given as a single dose of 1,000 mg, although the total dose may vary based on the patient's weight and the severity of iron deficiency. The infusion is generally well-tolerated, with most patients experiencing minimal adverse effects. Side effects may include headache, dizziness, nausea, and localized injection site reactions.
