Mavenclad (Cladribine) tablets are an immunosuppressive medication used for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS). It works by selectively targeting and depleting lymphocytes, which play a central role in the autoimmune process that causes MS. By reducing the number of these cells, Mavenclad helps to modulate the immune response, reducing inflammation and preventing damage to the myelin sheath in the central nervous system.

Each Mavenclad tablet contains 10 mg of cladribine, and it is typically administered in two treatment courses. Each course consists of a series of oral doses taken over a period of four or five days, with a second course typically administered a year later. The dosing schedule is designed to achieve the desired therapeutic effect while minimizing long-term exposure.

Common side effects include headache, nausea, fatigue, and an increased risk of infections due to its immunosuppressive action. Serious risks may involve liver toxicity, hematologic abnormalities, and the potential for malignancies. Regular blood tests are recommended to monitor for adverse effects.
