Before using, check this product visually for particles or discoloration. If either is present, do not use the liquid. Inject this medication under the skin as directed by your doctor, usually once daily into the thigh or abdomen. Before injecting each dose, clean the injection site with rubbing alcohol. This drug may make you dizzy. Alcohol or marijuana (cannabis) can make you more dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. Limit alcoholic beverages. Talk to your doctor if you are using marijuana (cannabis). To reduce the risk of dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Before having surgery, tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you use (including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products). During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is unknown if this medication passes into breast milk. This effect should go away after several doses as your body adjusts to the medication. It is best to lie or sit down if these symptoms occur. Muscle cramps/spasms, nausea, or pain/swelling/bruising at the injection site may also occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that this medication has been prescribed because your doctor has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including: fainting, constipation, unusual tiredness, mental/mood changes (such as confusion), purplish spots on the skin, skin ulcers/lesions. Teriparatide has been shown to increase bone cancer (osteosarcoma) in rats. It is unknown if this medication can cause bone cancer in humans.
