Epiduo Forte Gel 0.3%/2.5% is a topical combination medication used for the treatment of moderate to severe acne vulgaris. It contains two active ingredients: adapalene (0.3%) and benzoyl peroxide (2.5%). Adapalene is a retinoid that helps regulate skin cell turnover, preventing the clogging of pores, while benzoyl peroxide works as an antimicrobial agent, reducing the presence of Cutibacterium acnes, the bacteria that contributes to acne formation.

The mechanism of action of adapalene involves modulating the expression of certain genes, leading to increased cell turnover and reduced inflammation in the skin. Benzoyl peroxide, on the other hand, releases oxygen into the pores, effectively killing the acne-causing bacteria and reducing inflammation.

Common side effects of Epiduo Forte Gel include skin irritation, redness, dryness, peeling, and increased sensitivity to sunlight. Some individuals may experience a temporary worsening of acne during the initial stages of treatment.
