Description
Zoledronic Acid 5 mg/100 mL is a ready-to-use intravenous bisphosphonate solution indicated for the treatment of hypercalcemia of malignancy, multiple myeloma, and bone metastases from solid tumors. By inhibiting osteoclast-mediated bone resorption, it reduces serum calcium levels and prevents skeletal-related complications in cancer patients. The formulation is designed for single-dose administration and should be delivered as a separate intravenous infusion without mixing with calcium-containing solutions.
The medication is administered intravenously over a minimum of 15 minutes at a constant infusion rate to ensure proper bioavailability and reduce the risk of adverse effects. Zoledronic Acid should not be combined with Lactated Ringer’s solution or other divalent cation-containing solutions. It must be infused through a separate intravenous line to avoid potential incompatibilities with other medications.
Each 100 mL infusion bottle contains 5.330 mg of zoledronic acid monohydrate, equivalent to 5 mg of zoledronic acid on an anhydrous basis. The formulation includes 4,950 mg of mannitol, USP, and 30 mg of sodium citrate, USP, as inactive ingredients. The bottle features a built-in plastic hanger for convenient administration.
