The PDS™ Plus Antibacterial Suture, 3/0, 27", Clear Monofilament with FS-2 needle, is a synthetic absorbable suture designed to provide extended wound support while offering antibacterial protection. Constructed from polydioxanone, it delivers monofilament performance with reduced tissue drag and minimal tissue reaction. The suture is coated with triclosan, which imparts antibacterial properties, helping reduce the risk of bacterial colonization on the suture line.

PDS™ Plus maintains significant tensile strength throughout the critical healing period. It retains approximately 80% of its strength at 2 weeks, 70% at 4 weeks, and 60% at 6 weeks. This prolonged strength retention supports internal wound stability during tissue remodeling, especially in slow-healing tissues such as fascia.

The complete absorption profile of the suture occurs within 183 to 238 days via hydrolysis, ensuring that the suture is gradually and predictably absorbed without requiring removal. Its monofilament structure minimizes the risk of harboring bacteria and allows for smoother passage through tissues with reduced trauma.
