Violet Coated Vicryl 3-0 SH 27" Suture is a synthetic, absorbable, braided suture composed of polyglactin 910. It is coated to enhance handling characteristics, providing improved ease of passage through tissue and reduced tissue drag. The violet coloration allows for high visibility during surgical procedures.

This suture is designed for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. It is indicated for ophthalmic procedures but not recommended for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues. The suture provides excellent knot security and reliable performance, including secure knot tying on the first throw, ensuring procedural efficiency.

Common applications include general tissue and muscle approximation, ligation of vessels, and procedures involving the reproductive tract and ophthalmic surgeries. It is also considered a second-line choice in orthopedic procedures. The suture retains approximately 50% of its tensile strength after 3 weeks, which is suitable for tissues that heal relatively quickly.
