Violet Coated Vicryl 8-0 BV13 5" Suture is a synthetic, absorbable braided suture composed of polyglactin 910. It is coated with a mixture of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to enhance handling properties and reduce tissue drag. The violet coloration improves visibility under surgical lighting, allowing precise placement in delicate tissues. 

The suture is indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, including ophthalmic procedures. It is not recommended for cardiovascular or neurological tissues due to its absorbable nature and tensile strength profile. Its small diameter makes it suitable for fine, delicate surgical fields, such as ophthalmology and microvascular work. 

This suture offers high pliability, allowing smooth passage through tissue with minimal trauma. Knot tying is efficient and secure, with strong holding capacity on the first throw. Its braided design provides good knot security while maintaining flexibility during handling and placement.
