Description
ETHICON™ Coated VICRYL™ Suture is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is a braided multifilament suture coated with a mixture of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate to enhance smooth passage through tissue and improve knot tie-down. The undyed version minimizes pigment deposition in tissue, offering a discreet appearance for external and cosmetic closures.
This configuration features a PS-6 reverse cutting needle, 1/2 circle in shape, designed for skin and other tough tissue layers. The reverse cutting edge allows the needle to pass easily through dense or keratinized tissue without tearing. The 18-inch length provides sufficient reach for small- to medium-sized wounds or incisions, making it ideal for dermatologic and plastic surgical procedures.
Indicated for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, this suture is not recommended for cardiovascular, ophthalmic, or neurologic procedures. Its reliable absorption and strength retention profile support effective wound healing.
