Description

The Coated VICRYL™ Endoknot Suture, Size 0, 42", with ST-3 needle, is a sterile, braided, synthetic absorbable suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide (Polyglactin 910). It features a proprietary polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate coating to enhance handling and knot security.

This suture is indicated for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including procedures involving subcuticular closure, fascial closure, and other deep tissue layers. It is particularly designed for endoscopic use where knot tying outside the body cavity is required before introduction. The ST-3 needle is specially configured to accommodate the unique delivery requirements of endoscopic procedures.

The suture maintains approximately 75% of its original tensile strength at two weeks post-implantation, and about 50% at three weeks. It is completely absorbed via hydrolysis within 56 to 70 days. Absorption results in minimal tissue reaction, which is important in surgical scenarios where tissue sensitivity and inflammation must be minimized.
