Description
Coated VICRYL™ Plus Antibacterial Suture, Size 1, 18", Undyed, with CT-1 needle, is an absorbable braided synthetic suture made from a copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide (Polyglactin 910). It is designed for soft tissue approximation and ligation, particularly in procedures where the risk of surgical site infection is elevated.
This suture is coated with a proprietary antibacterial agent, IRGACARE® MP (triclosan), which has been shown in vitro to inhibit the growth of common pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), and methicillin-resistant S. epidermidis (MRSE).
The braided configuration provides excellent knot security and flexibility, allowing for smooth and secure handling during suturing. The suture is coated to enhance handling characteristics and reduce tissue drag, while the undyed material minimizes visual contrast when aesthetic outcome is important.
