The Undyed Coated Vicryl 2 TP-1 Taper 27" Suture is an absorbable, braided surgical suture made from Polyglactin 910. Designed for general soft tissue approximation and ligation, it is frequently used in various surgical disciplines including gynecological, gastrointestinal, urological, and subcutaneous procedures. The suture is not indicated for use in cardiovascular or neurological tissues.

The suture is coated to provide enhanced handling characteristics and facilitates smooth passage through tissue. Its braided structure ensures secure knot tying and reliable knot security from the first throw, contributing to optimal tissue approximation. The taper point needle (TP-1) with a 1/2 circle configuration allows for gentle penetration of delicate tissues without cutting.

This suture maintains approximately 50% of its tensile strength at three weeks post-implantation, making it suitable for tissues that regain strength relatively quickly. The material undergoes hydrolytic degradation, with complete absorption typically occurring within 56 to 76 days, eliminating the need for removal and minimizing the risk of long-term foreign body reaction.
