Description
Sodium Chloride Injection Solution, USP 0.9% 500 mL in Viaflex Flexible Plastic Container is a sterile, nonpyrogenic intravenous solution used for fluid and electrolyte replenishment. The product is designed for single-dose administration and serves as a reliable source of water and electrolytes. It contains 9 grams of sodium chloride per liter, which provides the necessary sodium for patients requiring electrolyte support.
The solution is pH balanced within a range of 4.5 to 7.0, with an average pH of 5.0, ensuring compatibility with the human body’s physiological conditions. With an osmolarity of 308 mOsmol/L (calculated), it is isotonic and suitable for intravenous use, minimizing the risk of disruption to cellular functions during infusion. The solution does not contain antimicrobial agents, ensuring it remains sterile until used but must be administered aseptically.
The Viaflex flexible plastic container is made from polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and is specifically formulated for medical use (PL 146 Plastic). Although the container is designed to minimize leaching, small amounts of certain chemicals, such as di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), may be released in negligible quantities (up to 5 parts per million) within the product’s expiration period.
