The SARS-CoV-2 Test Kit Antigen QuickVue Test x25 is a rapid diagnostic assay designed for qualitative detection of the nucleocapsid protein antigen from SARS-CoV-2. The test employs a lateral flow immunoassay format and is intended for use with anterior nares swab specimens collected from individuals suspected of COVID-19 within the first five days of symptom onset. The kit includes all necessary components, such as individually packaged test strips, reagent tubes, vials of reagent solution with salt solution, sterile nasal swabs, and positive and negative controls, allowing for immediate point-of-care testing.

The QuickVue test is authorized for use in laboratories certified under the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) that meet requirements for moderate, high, or waived complexity tests. It is classified as CLIA-waived and may be used in patient care settings operating under a CLIA Certificate of Waiver, Compliance, or Accreditation. The assay provides a simple workflow where a sample is collected, dipped in the reagent, and visually read, with results available within ten minutes.

Performance characteristics demonstrate high accuracy, with a positive percent agreement (PPA) of 96.6% and negative percent agreement (NPA) of 99.3% when used with direct anterior nares swab samples. Positive results indicate the presence of viral antigens but require correlation with clinical history and other diagnostic information. Negative results should be considered presumptive, and confirmation with molecular assays may be performed if necessary.
