Description

The Quill™ Barbed Suture is an absorbable monofilament wound closure device manufactured from dyed polydioxanone (PDO) and designed to provide secure tissue approximation without the need for traditional knot tying. This Size 3-0 violet suture features a bi-directional barbed configuration that distributes holding forces along the entire length of the closure. 

The device incorporates two PS-2 precision reverse cutting needles, each measuring 19 mm in length and formed in a 3/8 circle configuration. Constructed from stainless steel, the needles feature a diamond-point design intended for smooth penetration through soft tissue while maintaining precise control during suturing. The double-armed construction allows closure to proceed from a central point outward, supporting efficient tissue approximation in a variety of surgical procedures.

The bi-directional barb technology eliminates the requirement for interrupted sutures or knot tying, which may simplify closure techniques and reduce procedural complexity. By anchoring tissue along multiple points of contact, the barbs help maintain wound edge alignment and distribute tension evenly across the surgical site. This design may contribute to secure tissue support during the healing process.
