Description
Prolastin-C 1,000 mg/20 mL vial is a sterile, lyophilized preparation of Alpha1-Proteinase Inhibitor (Human), derived from human plasma. It is indicated for chronic augmentation and maintenance therapy in individuals with Alpha1-Antitrypsin (AAT) deficiency and clinical evidence of emphysema. The product functions by augmenting the levels of AAT in the lungs, thereby inhibiting neutrophil elastase and protecting pulmonary tissue from enzymatic degradation.
Each single-dose vial contains 1,000 mg of purified Alpha1-Proteinase Inhibitor in a 20 mL solution when reconstituted. The formulation is stabilized and processed through multiple steps including cold ethanol fractionation, polyethylene glycol precipitation, and chromatography, ensuring high purity and reduced risk of viral transmission.
Prolastin-C is administered intravenously once weekly at a recommended dose of 60 mg/kg body weight. The reconstituted solution should be used within three hours and infused at a rate not exceeding 0.08 mL/kg/min.
