MicroCLAVE is a neutral displacement connector. This means that there is virtually no reflux of blood into the catheter lumen either when you connect or disconnect an administration device. Neutral displacement allows the healthcare provider to use one standard protocol throughout the hospital for clamping central and peripheral catheters.
