Description

Coated VICRYL™ Suture, Violet Braided, Size 2-0, 30", with Double-Armed UR-6 Needle, D-Special is a synthetic absorbable suture composed of polyglactin 910, a copolymer of 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. The braided construction enhances pliability, tensile strength distribution, and knot security. A proprietary coating of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate reduces tissue drag and facilitates smooth handling.

The suture retains approximately 75% of its tensile strength at two weeks and 50% at three weeks. Complete absorption occurs within 56 to 76 days through hydrolytic degradation, making it suitable for internal tissue approximation where long-term strength is not required. The predictable absorption profile ensures temporary wound support during the early phases of healing.

The double-armed configuration with UR-6 needles is designed for precise, symmetrical placement in circular or purse-string closures. These curved needles support controlled placement in confined or delicate anatomical areas, enhancing surgical efficiency and accuracy in procedures such as bowel or vascular ligations.
