Coated VICRYL™ Plus Antibacterial (Polyglactin 910) Suture, Undyed Braided, 5-0, 27", FS-2 is a sterile, synthetic absorbable surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 90% glycolide and 10% L-lactide. It is coated with a combination of polyglactin 370 and calcium stearate, and incorporates triclosan—an antibacterial agent proven to reduce the risk of surgical site infections by inhibiting bacterial colonization on the suture.

The antibacterial property of this suture is effective against a range of common pathogens including Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE). These properties enhance the infection-control profile of the suture in high-risk surgical environments without compromising handling or knot security.

The undyed braided 5-0 configuration with an FS-2 reverse cutting needle ensures minimal tissue trauma and precision in delicate soft tissue approximation. It is frequently used in general surgery, gynecology, plastic surgery, and subcuticular closures where reduced infection risk is prioritized.
