Chromic Gut Absorbable Suture, Taper Point, Size 5/0, 27", C-1 Needle is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture composed of purified collagen derived from the serosal layer of beef or sheep intestine. The suture is treated with chromic salts to prolong its resistance to enzymatic absorption in tissue, enhancing tensile strength retention. 

The suture features a smooth, uniform surface that enables easy passage through tissue with minimal resistance. Its absorbability occurs through enzymatic digestion, with complete absorption typically within 90 days. Initial tensile strength is maintained for approximately 10 to 14 days post-implantation, depending on tissue environment and patient factors.

The attached C-1 needle is a curved, taper point needle designed for atraumatic tissue penetration, especially suitable for delicate soft tissue approximation such as subcutaneous closures or mucosal repairs. The taper point design allows smooth dilation of tissues without cutting, minimizing tissue trauma during placement.
