The 4 mL Serum Blood Collection Tube is designed for the collection, transportation, and processing of venous blood specimens intended for serum testing in clinical laboratories. Constructed from durable plastic, the tube measures 13 x 75 mm and features a sterile interior to support specimen integrity throughout the collection process. The tube contains a clot activator additive that promotes rapid clot formation, helping to improve workflow efficiency and facilitate serum separation for diagnostic analysis.

A silicone-coated interior surface enhances sample flow and minimizes adherence of blood components to the tube walls. The clear plastic construction allows easy visual inspection of the specimen during collection and processing. The red color-coded closure enables quick identification within laboratory settings and supports standardized specimen handling procedures. 

The integrated BD Hemogard™ Closure provides an added layer of safety during specimen collection and handling. The rubber stopper is recessed within a protective plastic shield, helping to reduce the risk of accidental contact with blood that may remain on the stopper surface after venipuncture. This design also minimizes the potential for blood splatter when opening the tube, enhancing laboratory safety and reducing exposure risks for healthcare personnel.
