Bicillin L-A PFS 1.2 Mmu is a sterile, injectable suspension of benzathine penicillin G, a long-acting antibiotic in the penicillin class. These include Group A streptococcal infections, rheumatic fever, and syphilis. The active ingredient, benzathine penicillin G, achieves prolonged therapeutic concentrations due to its low solubility and slow absorption from the intramuscular injection site, providing sustained antibacterial activity.
This formulation is supplied as a single-dose prefilled syringe containing 1.2Mmu of benzathine penicillin G. It includes a 21-gauge, thin-wall 1.5-inch needle designed specifically for pediatric intramuscular administration.
