How to Use -
How to Use HOW TO USE: Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. The dosage is based on your medical condition, potassium lab test results, and response to treatment. Do not heat patiromer or add it to hot foods or liquids. Mix this medication right before taking it. Open the packet and mix the powder as directed with liquid (such as water, apple juice) or soft food (such as applesauce, pudding, yogurt). If using liquid to mix, the powder does not dissolve so the liquid mixture will look cloudy. If any powder is left in the glass after drinking the mixture, add more liquid, stir, and drink it right away to make sure you take the whole dose. If using food to mix, make sure to eat all of the mixture to make sure you take the whole dose. Patiromer may decrease your absorption of other medications, which may make them work less well. Ask your pharmacist about the other medications you take. You may need to take patiromer at least 3 hours before or 3 hours after certain medications.
Missed Dose 1
Missed Dose MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose. Take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose to catch up.
Notes EA
Notes NOTES: Do not share this medication with others. Lab tests (such as magnesium and potassium blood levels) must be done while you are taking this medication. Keep all medical and lab appointments. If your doctor has prescribed a special diet for you, follow it.
Overdose OVERDOSE: If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call 911. Otherwise, call a poison control center right away. US residents can call their local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. Canada residents can call a provincial poison control center.
